My roommate and I are co-signors on a lease of a house. She wants out before the lease expires, leaving me holding the "bag" for rent and utilities. Can she do this?
She cannot just "breach the contract" and leave you holding the bag. One, tell her that you'll sue her for her share of the lease; or, two, see if there is a "lease buy-out" either in the lease, or through the landlord, and if there is, then the two of you can split up and leave the residence.
