What other conservation programs are in the 1996 farm bill?
The Farm Bill includes the Conservation Farm Option under which a farmer agrees to a conservation plan that will be in effect for ten years; the Flood Risk Reduction Program under which the farmer reduces his acreage in return for payment as if he had planted; the Farmland Protection Program which gives the USDA the authority to enter into easement agreements for land that is unique or prime; the Everglades Ecosystem Restoration which applies to sensitive land in Florida; and the Wildlife Habitat Incentive Program which is another cost-share program for farmers/ranchers who submit a development plan and receive technical training.
